Bangladesh: Government Committee Accuses Adani Power of 50% Overcharging

Bangladesh's National Review Committee points to contractual anomalies and excessive pricing in the electricity import agreement with Adani Power, whose Indian Godda plant reportedly supplies more than 10% of the country's electricity.

A Bangladeshi government report challenges the electricity supply agreement with Adani Power. According to the National Review Committee (NRC), a body appointed by the Bangladesh government, the coal-fired Godda plant in India’s Jharkhand state charges electricity at roughly 50% above what it should be. The committee describes this contract as the “most significant statistical outlier” in Bangladesh’s cross-border electricity procurement portfolio. The report, dated January 20, has not yet been made public.
