South Korea Confirms Two New Nuclear Reactors with 2.8 GWe Capacity by 2038

South Korea's Minister of Climate and Energy confirmed the continuation of two new reactor projects under the 11th Basic Plan for Electricity Supply, aiming to increase nuclear power's share to 35.2% of the energy mix.

The South Korean government maintains its commitment to nuclear energy development. Kim Sung-hwan, Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment, confirmed during a press briefing the construction of two large-capacity reactors by 2038. This announcement comes as part of preparations for the 12th Basic Plan for Electricity Supply and Demand, covering the period 2026-2040.
