Oak Ridge Attracts Over $3 Billion in Investments to Revive American Uranium Enrichment

Three American companies announce massive investments in Tennessee to rebuild a national uranium enrichment supply chain. Centrus Energy, BWX Technologies and LIS Technologies plan to create more than 730 jobs.

The historic Oak Ridge site in eastern Tennessee is once again becoming the epicenter of the American uranium enrichment industry. Three companies are deploying industrial programs totaling more than $3 billion in investments. These announcements come as the United States seeks to rebuild sovereign enrichment capacity, abandoned since 1987 at this site that was one of the three pillars of the Manhattan Project.
