CJEU Confirms €68.5M in Penalties Against Poland for Turów Mine

The Court of Justice of the European Union rejects Warsaw's appeal against financial penalties related to the continued lignite extraction at the Turów mine, near the Czech and German borders.

The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) rejected Poland’s appeal against €68.5 million in accumulated penalties. These fines result from Warsaw’s refusal to cease lignite extraction at the Turów mine. This open-pit operation extends over more than 10 kilometers along the borders with the Czech Republic and Germany.
