PJM Interconnection Anticipates Record Winter Electricity Demand at 144,465 MW

The largest U.S. power grid expects unprecedented demand next week. An Arctic cold blast should push consumption beyond the previous record set in January 2025.

PJM Interconnection, the largest grid operator in North America, expects to record a historic peak in winter demand. According to forecasts released Thursday morning, demand would reach 144,465 megawatts on January 27. This level would surpass the previous winter record of 143,700 MW set in January 2025.
